John Yeo and Frances Holman

Many Yeo lines stem from the descendants of John Yeo and Frances Holman, who married at Poundstock in 1616. Sheila corresponded with Teresa Drewett, Ian Maidment and Norma Biggs about some of John and Frances’s descendants. Martyn has explored the links to their line, as has David Treloar.

Sheila recorded three children for them, and there might have been a fourth:
– Humphrey Yeo (born c1619, married Jane Hambley, moved to Week St Mary
– Henry Yeo (born c1620, married Marion Trim, son William Yeo see below)
– John Yeo ?
– Thomas Yeo (born c1625) [note 1].

William Yeo (1669–1719, son of Henry Yeo and Marion Trim) married Mary Calloway. Their three children were baptised at Launcells:
– William Yeo (baptised 1700, married Ann Huddle, three children).
– John Yeo (baptised 1703, married Ann Gliddon, son John Yeo)
– Margaret Yeo (baptised 1707).

John and Frances’s grandson Peter Yeo married Ann Ivemay at St Mary Magdelene, Launceston in 1748; some of their descendants settled in the Portsmouth area and some emigrated to Australia.

John and Frances’s great x4 granddaughter Susanna Yeo was baptised at Werrington in 1807 to Thomas Yeo and Elizabeth Mason. Susanna is later recorded as Susan; she married John Thomas Scown at St Mary Magdalene, Launceston in 1832. Five years later they emigrated – their descendants in South Australia have been traced by David Treloar.
