Banns of marriage were read in the parish church at Chard, Somerset in August 1879 announcing the forthcoming marriage of John Isaac Yeo of Cosham, Hampshire (where he was serving with the Royal Engineers) to Elizabeth Ann Akery of Chard. The marriage took place in the parish church in Wymering on the outskirts of Portsmouth – the marriage certificate records that John was based at Hilsea rather than Cosham; he would have needed permission from his commanding officer to marry and would have forfeited a day’s pay.
John Isaac Yeo was born in Plymouth in 1851 to parents Isaac Yeo and Elizabeth Webber; no record of his death has been found. Elizabeth Ann Akery was born in Frome, Somerset in 1851 to parents Charles Akery and Ann Clement; she died in Somerset in 1902. They had a son John Isaac Charles Yeo.
