George Yeo Fishley (1779–1836) was baptised at Stoke Damerel to parents John Fishley and Mary Deborah [note 1].
George appears to have moved to Ilfracombe – he married Jane Brooke there in 1803 and was buried at there. George and Jane had six children, including:
– George Yeo Fishley (see below)
– Margaret Brooke Yeo Fishley (1812–1900, married William Collins).
George Yeo Fishley (1807–1882, son of George Yeo Fishley and Jane Brooke) married Elizabeth Cornish in Liverpool in 1837. They had a son:
– George Yeo Fishley (1839–1871, died in Australia)
before emigrating to Australia, where George senior also died [note 2].

Might there be a family connection to Melchard Yeo Fishley of Stoke Damerel, who married Elisabeth Tucker in Bideford in 1782?
Might there also be a connection to a George Yeo Fishley who married Mary Ann Mason at East Stonehouse in 1804? After Mary Ann’s death, George married Hannah Hicks in 1834; in the marriage record he is described as a mariner of Port Isaac. According to the 1841 census, George and Hannah were living at New Buildings, Stratton, George’s occupation shown as coastguard.
Notes
1. Married at Stoke Damerel in 1771. The marriage record describes John as an ironmonger.
2. No record has been found of Elizabeth’s death in Australia; she might have re-married.
