Francis Yeo died in Plymouth in 1858 at the age of 37, but it was not until 1870 that his estate was settled. His probate record from that year describes him as a private solder in the Royal Marines and names his executor as his widow Sarah Brock [note 1].
Francis was baptised at Holsworthy in 1820, the elder of two sons of Francis Ashton Yeo and Sarah Achim née Shepherd. He married Sarah Curtis at the parish church of St Andrew, Plymouth in 1843 [note 2]. Sarah re-married some years after his death, to John Brock in 1866.
