Charles John Yeo and Elizabeth Ann Richards

The passenger list for the SS Bendigo, which left London on 13 October 1927 bound for Australia, includes 40-year-old Mrs Elizabeth Yeo. Her address is given as c/o G. Treglown & Son, she is accompanied by three children [note 1], and it appears that she was travelling to join her husband Charles John Yeo. Charles died in New South Wales in 1942 but Elizabeth had returned to England before then. She died in 1937.

Charles John Yeo was born at Chulmleigh in 1873, the eldest of four children of James Yeo and Caroline Hill. He married Elizabeth Ann Richards in 1908; they had three children:
– Albert Pool Yeo (1908–1985, married Florence Hilda Reynolds and Elsie Jean Dennison) [note 2]
– Florence Elizabeth Yeo (1910–2003, married John Horton)
– Dorothy Jane Yeo (1911–1998, married Joseph Martin).

Notes
1. The names and ages of Elizabeth’s children do not match their birth registrations. They are recorded on the passenger list as Bertie, Florence and Doris.
2. Albert had married Florence Hilda Reynolds earlier in 1927 but he is not accompanied by his wife, who had recently given birth to their daughter Gwendoline Jean Yeo (1927–2022, married Thomas Gordon Kane).
