Sophia Yeo died in Plymouth in March 1923. Her death certificate records her as the 82-year-old widow of William John Yeo; the informant was her son Henry F. Yeo, present at her death at 8 York Street.
The 1921 census for Plymouth records Sophia at 8 York Street, an 80-year-old widow born at Hartland [note 1]. Listed with her are her 55-year-old unmarried daughter Sophia Frances Yeo and her 53-year-old unmarried son Henry Franklyn Yeo. Shown as boarders in the same house are Sophia’s 44-year-old son Percy Alfred Yeo and his 38-year-old wife Elsie Marie Yeo.
William John Yeo (1836–1919, son of John Williams Yeo and Constantia Powell Moore) appears to have married Sophia Johns about 1860 [note 2]. They had seven children:
– William John Moore Yeo (1864–1890, married Sarah Margaret Bull in 1885, no recorded children)
– Sophia Frances Yeo (1866–1927)
– Henry Franklyn Yeo (1867–1931, married Lucy Annetta Parsons) [note 3]
– Edwin Richie Yeo (1869–1939, emigrated to Canada, married May Elizabeth Robillard in Ottawa in 1920, died in the United States)
– Creemer Lee Amer Yeo (1872–1945, married Blanche Louisa Tolman in 1906 and Margerita Elizabeth Myers in 1939) [note 4]
– Percy Alfred Yeo (1876–1937, married Elsie Marie Hodge in 1910)
– Annie Winifred Alice Yeo (1882–1955, married Ellison Milner in 1912).

Notes
1. Sophia’s age appears to match a birth registered at Bideford in the fourth quarter of 1840 of a daughter of Thomas Johns and Mary Vanstone.
2. No record of their marriage has been found. Were they perhaps married at a nonconformist ceremony in Plymouth or Hartland? Or did they not marry?
3. Henry was recorded in 1916 as a teacher in Plymouth, at Regent Street Intermediate School.
4. Daughter Emily Maud Yeo, born 1908.
