William Henry Yeo (1860–1895) married Harriet Chown [note 1] at a Church of England ceremony in Boorowa, New South Wales in 1889. William was apparently an emigrant from England, but his line of descent has not been established.
They had four children:
– William Henry Yeo (1889–1918) [note 2]
– Elizabeth Maude Yeo (1891–1967, married Ernest Crimmins and Charles Price)
– Lucy May Yeo (1894–1959, married George Chamberlain)
– Phillip Charles Yeo (1900–1926).

Notes
1. Harriet (also recorded as Harriet Eliza Chown) also appears to have been of English descent, though she might have been partly of aboriginal or Maori heritage.
2. When William enlisted in the Australian army in May 1915 his age was given as 25 years and 6 months, his next of kin as Harriett Yeo [sic] and his occupation as labourer; his nationality was recorded as a ‘natural born British subject’. He died in France in 1918 and is commemorated on a headstone in the cemetery at Peronne, in the Picardy region of France. For more information about his military service see the Australian War Memorial web site.
