Richard Piper Yeo – artist and photographer

Please read About individuals before using any of the information on this page.

Richard Piper Yeo was baptised at the parish church of St Andrew, Plymouth in 1813. His father Richard Yeo is shown in the baptism record as a merchant’s clerk and his mother is recorded as Mary.

Richard Piper Yeo’s wife Harriet was from the Isle of Wight but there appears to be no record of their marriage – perhaps it was a nonconformist ceremony? The 1851 census records them in Lewes, Sussex.

Richard trained as an artist and specialised in miniature portraits, but later became a photographer, with premises at 89 Union Street, Devonport. He lived until 1899.
