Henry Robert Yeo and Sultana Piper

Please read About Families before using any of the information on this page.

The 1881 census for Plymouth records photographer Henry Robert Yeo at 12 Tracy Street, which was in the area near Frankfort Gate in the centre of the city.

Henry was born at Maidstone, Kent in 1851 to parents Richard Piper Yeo and Mary Besley and had moved to Plymouth before marrying Sultana Piper there in 1877. They had three children:
– Winifred Yeo (1878–1940, married Albert James Ives)
– Bertie Piper Yeo (1880–1885)
– Florence Irene Yeo (1887–1983, married Horace Daniel).

Later censuses in 1891, 1901 and 1911 record the family at 14 Lisson Grove in the Mutley Plain area of Plymouth.

Henry was trading as H. Yeo from premises at 169 Union Street in the late 19th century, and correspondent Bruce Rickeard has kindly sent us a family photograph with his business details on the reverse.

Henry died in Plymouth in 1937.
