The 1939 Register records 68-year-old widower Arthur Henry John Yeo living in Cardiff, at 11 Planet Street. He is a retired basket maker, and is blind [note 1].

Arthur Henry John Yeo (1871–1949) was born in Bristol to parents George Yeo and Sarah Ann Martin. He married Margaret Hannah Way in 1897; they had five children:
– William Charles Yeo (1899–1913, died in a mining accident)
– Arthur Frederick Yeo (1900–1918) [note 2]
– Lilian Amelia Yeo (1901–1991, married John William Phillips)
– Lewis Henry Yeo (1906–1972, married Marie Rose Savill)
– John Pugsley Yeo (1911–1994, married Winifred Mabel Usher).

Notes
1. Arthur’s wife Margaret had died two years earlier. The 1911 census records them at 11 Planet Street with their four eldest children and lodger John Baker (who is still living at 11 Planet Street in 1939).
2. Arthur Frederick Yeo died in France while serving with the Royal West Kent Regiment, and was buried at the British cemetery at Franvillers.
