This couple married at the parish church in Stoke Damerel on 10 January 1807. Sheila looked into George Yeo but was not able to establish his of descent. Was he a son of John Yeo and Elizabeth Causey, who married at Holsworthy in 1762?
Reg Walter suggested that George might have been from Lansallos, a parish near the south coast of Cornwall to the west of Plymouth, but admitted that the evidence was unconvincing. A George Yeo was baptised there on 29 January 1781 to parents John and Elizabeth Yeo (née Wallish) – this line should link to Philip Yeo and Margaret Bond of North Tamerton, whose family has not been fully documented.
George and Catherine appear to have had seven children, of whom only the family of the fifth, George Yeo, has been traced. He was born in 1822, married Ellen Buckthought at Stoke Damerel in 1856 and had four children:
– Ellen Jane Yeo (born 1859)
– Emma Yeo (born 1863, married Emmanuel Parkhouse)
– George Rodney Yeo (born 1864, married Alberta Elizabeth May, son Rodney Yeo)
– Julia Yeo (born 1867, married Alfred Edwin Down).
