Yeos in Elong Elong

The 1901 census for New South Wales records each household on a single line.

In the return for Elong Elong, a settlement about 25 miles east of Dubbo, there are four households with the surname Yeo:
– John Walters Yeo and family (3 males, 1 female)
– James Yeo and family (3 males, 3 females)
– Earnest [sic] Thomas Yeo and family (3 males, 2 females)
– Thomas Yeo and family (4 males 3 females).

All four men appear to have been descendants of Devon emigrants James Yeo and Elizabeth Shapland:

John Walters Yeo (1863–1930) had seven children with his wife Mary Douglas between 1891 and 1907.

James Yeo was probably James Alfred Yeo (1864–1934), who had eleven children with his wife Letitia May Bradley.

Ernest Thomas Yeo (1873–1945) had three children with his wife Anna Lydia Inder.

Thomas Yeo (1844–1922) had nine children with his wife Margaret Jackson.
