They are both recorded as 37 years old and born in Bournemouth, but this information is inaccurate. John was born at West Down, near Barnstaple in 1876 to parents William Yeo and Mary Harris, so he was 34. Elizabeth’s birth was registered in Plymouth in 1875, making her 35. Elizabeth died in 1949; her husband John lived until 1961.
John and Elizabeth had married in Plymouth in 1896. Of their nine children, all except Dorothy (who had died) and Stephen (who was not yet born) are included in the census return:
