John Thomas Yeo was born in Guernsey in 1841 to parents William Joseph Spry Yeo and Elizabeth Nicholson. He married Sophia Godfrey in London in 1859.
John and Sophia had sixteen children, of whom eight did not survive infancy:

– Sarah Jane Yeo (born 1871)

– William Henry Yeo (1874–1876)
– Edward James Yeo (1876–1877)
– Robert James Yeo (1878–1881)
– Horace Yeo (born 1879)
– George Henry Yeo (1881–1882)
– Clara Louisa Mary Yeo (born 1883, marred Alfred John Raeburn)

In the 1891 census, only Horace and Clara are listed with their parents. John died in 1903; Sophia survived him and lived until 1915.
