John Edward Broderick Yeo (1818–1899) was baptised at Stoke Damerel to parents John Yeo and Elizabeth Harvey. His third forename has been variously spelt Broderick, Brodrick, Broadlick and Brodlick, as has the third forename of his son John.
John married Mary Amley Smith at the parish church of St Andrew, Stoke Damerel in 1840 [note 1]. They had six children [note 2]; the first born in Plymouth:

and the other five after they moved to Gibraltar:
– Edward Yeo (see below)
– William Yeo (1846–1894, married Francesca Licudi, one son)
– Ann Yeo (1848–1848)
– Thomas James Joseph Yeo (1851–1909, married Josephine Montolla)
– unnamed son (born 1857, died as an infant).
John and Mary spent the rest of their lives in Gibraltar, and both died there.
John Edward Broderick Yeo (1841–1885, son of John Edward Broderick Yeo and Mary Amley Smith) married Maria Eugenia Santos in Gibraltar in 1864. They had a daughter:
– Maria Dolores Yeo (1865–1935).
Edward Yeo (1842–1888, son of John Edward Broderick Yeo and Mary Amley Smith) [note 3] married Maria Amalia Macedo in Gibraltar in 1864. They had six children:

– John Yeo (1867–1906, married Elvira Francis de Guillasa, four children)
– Francis Yeo (1870–1944, married Alicia de la Cuerda, three children)
– Mary Yeo (1876–1968, married Miguel Angel Segovia)
– Salvador Yeo (1881–1932, married Maria Hernandez Enriquez, three children)
– Edward Yeo (born 1886, married Elena Lopez Vasquez, one son).
Joseph Yeo (1865–1943, son of Edward Yeo and Maria Amalia Macedo) married Maria García de Morales in Gibraltar in 1887. They had nine children there:

– Josephine Yeo (1889–1940, married Arthur Ramagge)
– Amalia Yeo (born 1892, died as an infant)
– Dinora Yeo (born 1893, died as an infant)
– Francis Yeo (1894–1944, married Alice Elisa Yeo [note 4], two children)
– Joseph Yeo (1896–1966, emigrated to Australia, married Married May Margaret Weston and Emily C. Wilkie, two daughters from first marriage)
– Emily Yeo (born 1899, died as an infant)
– John Yeo (born 1901, married Maria Encarnación de Bueno, four children)
– Annie Yeo (born 1903, died as an infant).
Edward Yeo (1888–1961, son of Joseph Yeo and Maria García de Morales) married Eloisa Yeats at the Catholic cathedral in Gibraltar in 1916. They lived for the rest of their lives in Gibraltar and both died there; their six children were:
– Ernest Joseph Yeo (1917–1981, married Florence Emily Thomson née Bigwood [note 5], died in England)
– Victor George Yeo (1919–1978, married Aida Pérez, two children)
– Clemencia Maria Yeo (1922–2006, married Alfred da Costa [note 6], died in England)
– Evelina Yeo (1926–2005, married Philip Coward, died in England)
– Maria de los Angeles Yeo (1932–2000, died in England)
– William Patrick Yeo (1934–2014, died in England).

Notes
1. Their marriage certificate describes the groom as a blacksmith of 7 Spillier Opening, son of mariner John Yeo. The bride was a spinster of Mutton Cove, daughter of mariner Thomas Smith. Mary is also recorded as Mary Ann Smith and as Mary Hambley Smith; her name is shown as ‘Mary Ann Yeo formerly Hambly’ on the 1841 birth certificate of their son John.

3. Edward’s family is listed in the 1871 and 1881 censuses for Gibraltar. The 1871 census includes his mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
