Records kept by the Royal African Company include references to a Henry Yeo on board a ship off the Guinea coast in 1691, and the following year off the Gambian coast and at the Cape Coast Castle trading post on the Gold Coast.
This English company, established some twenty years earlier, traded in manufactured goods, spices, tea and raw materials including timber, and was also involved in the transatlantic slave trade – there is no indication which of these Henry took part in.
