Bernard Henry Yeo and Ada Smith

The 1939 Register for Harrow in north-west London lists 70-year-old Bernard Henry Yeo at 515 Kenton Road – his occupation is recorded as ‘clothing designer & master tailor’. In the same household are his 67-year-old wife Ada Yeo (‘unpaid domestic duties’) and 27-year-old daughter Muriel Yeo, a telephonist and teleprinter operator.

Bernard Henry Yeo (1869–1948) had been born in Cardiff to parents Philip Yeo and Mary Ann Ewins. He married Ada Smith in Cardiff in 1893; they had five children there before moving to London:
– Ada May Yeo (born 1896, married Reginald Sennit)
– Eva Winifred Yeo (born 1898, married Arthur Johns)
– Bernard Royston Leslie Yeo (see below)
– Muriel Yeo (1912–1994)
– Cyril Henry Yeo (1912–1945 [note 1], married Ingrid Topp).

Bernard Royston Leslie Yeo (1900–1971, son of Bernard Henry Yeo and Ada Smith) married Elizabeth Kuhn in 1926. They had three children:
– Richard Grenville Yeo (1930–2012, married Avril Morley and Ann Russell, two daughters)
– Gillian Ann Yeo (born 1936, married Graham Gorringe)
– Jennifer Yeo (born 1938, married John Gaines).
