Susan Yeo was baptised at Werrington in 1807 as Susanna Yeo, daughter of Thomas Yeo and Elizabeth Mason. She married widower John Thomas Scown at the parish church of St Mary Magdalene, Launceston in 1832 and emigrated with him to Australia on the SS Katherine Stewart Forbes.
Susan and John had two children in Cornwall, a third on the ship in 1837 while they were emigrating, and a further five children in South Australia, where they settled. Susan died in 1888, surviving John by a little over nine years.
