There is a Yaw line of descent in the United States, researched by Kathy Neumann and others, that might be English or German in origin.
While English appears to be the more likely of the two, there is documentary and anecdotal evidence that this line of farmers in the state of New York were of German descent. They married women from German families in more than one generation, so there was certainly a German connection. Two of the men were buried in Evergreen Cemetery, near the city of Buffalo:
– Henry Yaw (1836–1905), who served in the American Civil War
– Edward Yaw (1880–1943), who married Eva Gruder in Marila, New York.
