John Yeo was baptised at Kilkhampton in 1798. He married Ann Weare at the parish church in Kilkhampton in 1838, shortly after the start of civil registration. The 1851 census records him as a boot maker.
Ann had been born Ann Barrett at Morwenstow about 1799 and had previously married John Weare at Kilkhampton in 1826.
When Ann’s 1838 marriage to John Yeo was registered, she was shown as Ann Wheare Barrett. There were five children from this marriage:
– Elizabeth Yeo (born c1838)
– John Yeo (born 1839, died as an infant)
– Emma Yeo (born 1831, died as an infant)
– John Gregory Yeo (born 1842)
– Emma Jane Yeo (born 1869).
John Yeo had died by 1865 and Ann continued to live in Kilkhampton. The 1881 census records her as a widow. She appears not to have re-married but she had four further children:
– Mary Jane Yeo (born 1865)
– William Henry Yeo (1862)
– Thomas Yeo (1865)
– Charles Yeo (1869).
