Marriage registrations – England and Wales

Civil registration of marriages in England and Wales was introduced in 1837. Please read the notes below the table and at About these records.

Some records show the location of the marriage in the ‘Details’ column. Where these are marked *, see Marriages – England and Wales for more information.

To search for records, use the filters at the foot of the table, either individually or in combination, some of which might be filled when the page is opened. Putting a space before or after a filter term can be of help in refining the results. Use Tab and Shift-Tab to move between the filters.

The filters for surnames are intended for use when searching for a bride or groom who did not have Yeo or a variant as a surname – see the last paragraph under Further surname variants.

These records include 41 instances where the groom or bride’s name in the registration record differs from the name recorded on the marriage certificate. They also include 17 marriages for which no registration record has been found.

Records of people who are still alive will be hidden from display – see Records of living people.

Comments in square brackets are not present in the registration records.
