John Harris and Elizabeth Yeo married at Dunchideock in 1839. They had at least six children in Devon before emigrating to the United States. They both appear to have died near Galveston, Texas during a devastating hurricane in September 1900, known as ‘The Great Storm’.
Before John and Elizabeth emigrated, their daughter Susan Harris had married Thomas Parton and emigrated to Queensland with him on the SS Scottish Admiral in 1878.
